BC locks in on details for final day of Stanford prep

Details, details, details.
That was the emphasis for BC during practice on Thursday morning inside Fish Field House. The Eagles had their last day of prep for Stanford before departing early on Friday morning.
I had to miss the final period (about 20 minutes or so) heading to Gillette, but here’s what stood out during the hour-plus I got to watch:
Special teams
Lot of good, competitive kickoff work inside Fish (despite the roof…insert eye roll emoji). I feel like it’s going to be much better than it was coverage wise on Saturday night. There’s certainly been an emphasis on it this week.
Both Luca Lombardo and Liam Connor hit field goals during a brief period from 40-45 yards. Lombardo went 2/2, Connor 1/1.
The kickers also work on kickoffs from sideline to sideline while various team periods are going on. Absolute rockets to each wall/garage door. Kind of funny to watch and gotta keep our head on a swivel at all times.
There was also plenty of punt block and return work throughout the day too.
Crisp offense
During the early QB and WR period (indy) I don’t think I saw a ball hit the ground once. All three ‘main’ QBs were on target and receivers were reeling balls in.
I also watched Shaker a bunch at this point just because we obviously don’t see a lot of him when he’s on the other side of the field in team periods working with the defense on scout, but his release is interesting. It’s short, but man does he have some zip on his throws. If he sticks around and can develop here, he might be really good.
Quick 7-on-7 and team period recaps
Dylan looked good. Early 7-on-7 (scout team) he had completions to various levels to Lewis Bond, Reed Harris, Kaelan Chudzinski, Jaedn Skeete (dart to the sideline at one point) and Dawson Pough. Grayson James had completions to Ty Lockwood, Ismael Zamor and Pough. He also had a dime up the seam for a TD to Bo MacCormack at one point too.
There was some late goal line work on both sides of the field for offense and defense too as Bill O’Brien continued to make sure everything was covered before boarding a plane on Friday morning.
Final thoughts
I’ll make my weekly prediction in the ‘official’ game preview/keys on Friday, but I’d be surprised if BC doesn’t win it by 10 or so. I’ve been worried about the spot since the schedule came out and picked them to lose this game in my initial record prediction breakdown, but after seeing what the offense did against Michigan State and seeing how confident Lonergan looked all week, I just don’t see any way the Cardinal keep up.
