Eagles wrap up practice week with strong day

The hay is in the barn.
BC wrapped up its Michigan State prep (aside from a walkthrough on Friday morning) with a solid, productive, crisp practice on Thursday morning inside Fish Field House.
Here’s a quick recap of what stood out:
High energy
For a practice indoors that was sort of a glorified walkthrough (zero team periods) guys were locked in. Balls rarely hit the ground in offensive drills, defensive guys seemed to be on top of theit assignments and even special teams had a good day overall (more on that in a bit).
There was definitely a business-like approach to the day, but you could also tell guys were hyped to be hopping on a plane on Friday to go hit someone else again.
Jason Hewlett was probably the most energetic LB (dancing wise) while watching their indy period.
7-on-7 scout team work
The day was mostly centered around scout team work and special teams work. During the scout look for 7-on-7, Jaedn Skeete made a sick leaping grab over the middle from Lonergan, while Lewis Bond and Reed Harris had catches too. Grayson James completed passes to Kaelan Chudzinski, Luke McLaughlin, Ismael Zamor and Ty Lockwood. He also had an absolute dime on a wheel to Jordan McDonald.
Punting/punt blocking
A lot of emphasis on special teams as a whole. BC worked on both blocking and punting out of its own end zone. I keep saying it, but I think the return unit (both kickoff and punt) are going to make big plays this season.
Field goals
Quick live field goal period, Luca Lombardo hit both of his from 46, Liam Connor hit his one attempt. Booming kicks too.
More scout team
Biggest highlight of a late scout period was James throwing a deep ball TD to VJ Wilkins, who continues to show off his speed daily.
End of game situational work/game winners for the kickers
The last period of the day was more situational work. Eight seconds left, ball at the opponent’s 35, field goal wins it. Lonergan hit a crosser to Bond and James hit one to Lockwood before O’Brien called ‘time out.’ He then told both guys before respective kicks that this was for the game. Lombardo hit his and Connor drilled his (might’ve been good from 50). Both were from 49-yards out.
Off to Michigan
O’Brien huddled the team together post practice and adamantly reminded them how much of a huge opportunity this weekend is on national television with the world watching.
Full game preview will be up Friday afternoon!
