
<p>Well, that was fun. </p>



<p>Intensity was high Wednesday morning. You could tell BC knew the end of camp was near with just two practices left and the ability to hit someone else is just 10 days away.</p>



<p>Finishing the right way is the emphasis this week. On the eve of the unofficial end to training camp with Thursday’s practice, the offense and defense weren’t backing down or just going through the motions. It was physical (clean), loud and most importantly, productive for both sides. </p>



<p>It also helps that it felt like fall outside (finally) and the team was inside for just the second or third time this summer with rain coming down and absolutely no reason to risk any injuries. </p>



<p>A lot to get to, it was a two-pages-of-notes day:</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-early-observations">Early observations</h2>



<p>I saw Bills, 49ers and Panthers scouts in the building today. Might have missed one or two more. The Panthers guy walked by us and said ‘damn, throwing dimes’ at one point, referring to Grayson’s 7-on-7 performance. </p>



<p>Joe Dailey was back at practice too. It was also great to see Owen McGowan back, who also spoke after practice and should be a key addition to that LB group. The entire O-line was intact too, which is obviously music to fans’ ears just over a week from the opener. </p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-db-vs-wr-1-on-1s">DB vs. WR 1-on-1s</h2>



<p>The competitive juices were flowing early and this sort of kicked things off. A lot of tight, hard-fought battles and a few others that were just pure and utter dominance one way or the other. It’s rapid fire so got as much as I could. Most routes were either crossers, deep balls, comebacks or outs…</p>

<p>Lonergan: No gain on a run by McDonald (X2); short run McDonald, wide open completion to Jeremiah Franklin; no gain on a run by McDonald (Jude Bowry and Sedarius McConnell were chirping for a while after the play with a couple one-handed mini pushes before going back to their respective huddles</p>



<p>James: No gain for Broome on a run; run stuff by Jackson; Diving PBU over the middle for McShane (pressure from Makai Byerson; short run by Mekhi Dodd.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-team-period-ball-at-opponent-s-40">Team period (ball at opponent’s 40)</h2>



<p>Lonergan: Skeete finds a spot in the zone and catches a ball deep(ish) over the middle; hard run by McDonald; run stuff by McConnell; probable sack for Ty Clemons with a possible strip thrown in as well. Tough to tell if Clemons got a hand in or not, or if the play was already dead. </p>



<p>James: Offside defense; deep crosser for Pough; run stuff by Jackson; run stuff by Chuck Naaeto right at the line of scrimmage; most likely PI deep in the end zone with KP Price and someone else in coverage against Pough.</p>



<p>Lonergan: Complete miscommunication with Skeete leads to an easy interception for Price with a ball thrown right to him and Skeete on the other side of the field; short run by Broome.</p>



<p>James: Hard run by Broome; incompletion intended for Pough; short completion to Fleming over the middle. </p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-live-ish-kickoff-period">Live(ish) kickoff period</h2>



<p>About three-quarters speed kick off work had the pads thumping a little bit inside. I’m still of the belief we’re going to see the return game be a weapon for the Eagles this season. </p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-7-on-7">7-on-7</h2>



<p>Could have just labeled this the Grayson James and Dawson Pough show…</p>



<p>Lonergan: Short completion to McDonald; deep TD to Harris against Price (Harris flung the ball like 35 feet in the air after it with a big yell (we’ll come back to that…); incompletion deep to Bond vs. Thornton (through his hands, great throw down right sideline); crosser to Bond. </p>



<p>James: Hitch to Brady Clough; (I missed the next snap); deep TD to Pough down the left sideline vs. Farris (great back shoulder(ish) throw); deep TD down the left sideline to Pough vs. Farris (completing Moss-ing. Just absolutely went up and got it over him).</p>



<p>Lonergan: Crosser to Bond; quick completion to Harris</p>



<p>James: Incompletion to the sideline; wide open deep TD for Zamor. </p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-red-zone-7-on-7">Red zone 7-on-7</h2>



<p>Lonergan: Crosser to Bond; incompletion in the end zone for Harris vs. Martinez; hitch to the goal line for Ty Lockwood; wide open TD catch for Broome.</p>



<p>James: Fits a ball into a tight window for Kaelan Chudzinski; diving TD catch for Pough; incompletion. </p>

<p>There was real juice at this point. Music got cranked up and the defensive guys started bouncing and hyping up the crowd despite being inside an empty Fish Field House. People are going to love how fast and physical they are (assuming this all translates of course)…</p>



<p>Lonergan: False start (this is what got the guys going immediately); wide open grab for Harris up the seam; sack for McConnell; hard run by McDonald (good stick by Thornton); incomplete crosser (tons of pressure). </p>



<p>James: Dime on a deep(ish) corner to McLaughlin; Bryce Steele and Jayzen Flint blow up a screen; sack by Makai Byerson; PBU deep by McShane vs. Zamor; drop by Zamor on a slant (dart by James). </p>

<p>Still love all the options here. I’d still love to see VJ Wilkins get first crack, but but Bond, Martinez, Broome and others could all get looks. Maybe even Bo MacCornack and Isaiah Farris too. </p>

<p>Lonergan: Incompletion to Franklin with Torrence in coverage; one-handed jumping INT for Torrence agaist Harris in the end zone. Torrence let Harris hear it and then returned the favor by launching the ball in the air as the defense celebrated.</p>
