Illinois guard Mihailo Petrovic cleared by NCAA

The Fighting Illini will no longer be without its offseason international pickup Mihailo Petrovic.
The NCAA has fully cleared the point guard for the 2025-26 season, the school announced on Monday. Petrovic, 22, has been classified as a sophomore and will have three years of eligibility to utilize.
Petrovic committed to Illinois in April and comes to Champaign with tons of international experience. Last season, the guard played for KK Mega Basket in the ABA league and averaged 14.2 points, 2.8 rebounds and 7.3 assists while shooting 33% from deep. The Prokuplje, Serbia native also played in the Basketball League of Serbia (KLS) for two seasons. Petrovic started his career as a youth player with his hometown club, KK Probasket Prokuplje before his first professional stint with KK Partizan in 2019.
The point guard is expected to have a major role in Illinois’ backcourt along with senior Kylan Boswell and freshman Keaton Wagler. Petrovic was not able to play in Illinois’ exhibition game vs. Illinois State.
The first regular season game against Jackson State on Monday, Nov. 3, will be our first look at Petrovic in an Illinois uniform.
