Louisville guard Mikel Brown Jr. out vs. Tennessee
Louisville will be without its star freshman point guard Mikel Brown Jr. tonight against Tennessee, per release.
“Mikel Brown Jr. was a game time decision and has been ruled OUT (lower back) for tonight’s game at Tennessee,” the release said.
Brown, the 6-5 guard, has averaged 16.6 points, 5.1 assists and 3.0 rebounds for Louisville this season while shooting 38.1% from the field. He’s been dealing with back issues for a couple weeks, per source. This is Brown’s first missed game in college.
Sophomore guard Adrian Wooley will get the start in Brown’s place. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. ET from Knoxville and the game will air on ESPN.
Tennessee (7-3) is in desperate need of a win, losing three straight games against P5 opponents coming into tonight’s contest. Louisville’s elite depth will certainly be tested against the Volunteers with Brown out.
