UCLA's Mick Cronin Receives Contract Extension

UCLA head coach Mick Cronin secretly received a contract extension over the summer, per a report from the LA Times.

His previous contract was set to expire after the 2027-28 season, but Cronin has now been extended through 2029-30. He will make $4.5 million a season, a slight raise from $4.1 million.

“I’m honored to be the coach at UCLA,” Cronin told the LA Times. “For me, I have no inklings of being anywhere else. I’ve had many offers to do so. I’m where I want to be so I’ll always say the same thing — it was surreal when I got the job and I’m just working hard to do everything we can to upgrade our program to a point to where we can try to win the title for our fans, and that’s all I really worry about. I’m at that point in my career, so if they want to extend me, I take it because I’m not looking to go anywhere.”

The new contract was signed in May, and it was not announced at the time due to “the financial climate within the university.”

Cronin, 54, has a 145-67 record in seven seasons with the Bruins. He’s made the NCAA Tournament four times, tripped the Final Four and won the Pac 12 regular season in 2022-23 as UCLA’s head coach. Cronin spent 13 seasons at Cincinnati before coming to Los Angeles and started his career at Murray State.
