Looking Ahead: Army Black Knights’ Sophomore DE Jack Bousum

Last Saturday against visiting Charlotte, Defensive Lineman Jack Bousum and Inside Linebacker/Co-Captain Kalib Fortner played really well in Army’s home win.
But our featured focus in this brief article is Bousum, who we truly like how he’s progressing and the upside that he brings to the Army football program.
The 6-foot-4, 268 pounder is only a sophomore and within the Black Knights’ locker room via the coaches and player was selected player of the game this past Saturday where he had a sack and a PBU on third down and he also had a TFL.
Where It Began At The Academy
Bousum entered West Point in 2023 from Annapolis, MD after spending the 2022 season at USMAPS.
He did not see the field as a plebe in 2023 and was sidelined with an injury in 2024.
Getting It Going
He made his college debut against Tarleton State and registered three total tackles, including 1.5 tackles for loss. He has appeared in all 6 games this season with 5 starts and has played 277 of the 393 defensive snaps. He ranks tenth on the team in total tackles with 13 and third in TFLs with 3.5. His best rating from PFF so far was in the Charlotte game where he received an overall rating of 73.5 and a rating of 79.2 on pass rushing.

Jack is long, quick and strong. This is just his first year really playing any snaps due to injuries, as previously mentioned. Looking ahead, he will be an excellent defensive end for the Black Knights, as he gains more experience.
Is he better against the run or pass or equal in both aspects?
From where we sit, he has the tools to be good at both.
