FAYETTEVILLE — Warren true freshman wide receiver Antonio Jordan hasn’t been on campus long, but he’s making a strong case to see the field for the Razorbacks this season.

As with a lot of Warren wide receivers, Jordan has hit the ground running and did a lot of good things during Arkansas’ first practice of fall camp. During the fastball period, he ran with the third team and made two catches, one of which was most impressive and with two defenders draped all over him.

Head coach Sam Pittman has said it the last few weeks, but he believes Jordan can be a real piece of the offense this coming season.

“Antonio Jordan made some really good catches,” Pittman told reporters Friday. “I mean, he’s hard to cover because he’s so tall and he can run. You look at him and you’re going ‘He’s a big target that we hope you can run,’ and all that.

“We knew he could run and he showed that today. Was good in one on ones as well when they were playing man coverage on him. He showed out.”

A bit of an unknown for Hog fans, Jordan is making his first appearance on the practice field for Arkansas. He didn’t enroll until the summer, so he didn’t have a chance to go through spring practices back in March and April.

He may be just 18 years old, but Jordan’s teammates don’t see him that way. Defensive back Larry Worth III said Jordan looks and plays a lot older than he actually is.

“He had some great catches today,” Worth said. “Younger guy but he doesn’t play like a younger guy, I’ll say. He definitely has that dog in him and I can’t wait to see what does as well.”

The Razorbacks will head into their second practice of fall camp on Saturday morning. Be sure to stay tuned to HawgBeat for more coverage of Arkansas football.
