Publisher’s note: Please send any nominations you have each week to [email protected] by 5 p.m. CT each Sunday. Include the player, height/weight, school, class and stats for that game. Players are listed in alphabetical order.

QB – Tyler Hampton – Sylvan Hills

Class: 2026

Height, Weight: 6-1, 200

Offers: Arkansas – Monticello, Culver-Stockton (Mo.), Hedrix College, Langston (Okla.), Lyon College, Ottowa (Kan.),

Sylvan Hills came into Thursday’s game against Maumelle on a 20-game losing streak dating back to the beginning of the 2023 season and were starving to change that in their first game under new head coach Mark Kelley.

There were a lot of great plays, as well as plenty of correctable ones, but the performance of senior quarterback Tyler Hampton was the difference. He was 21 of 37 (57%) for 327 yards and three touchdowns, while also adding 136 yards and four scores on the ground as the Bears held on the beat the Hornets 55-54 and begin a positive streak.

QB – Hank Hendrix – Fayetteville

Class: 2027

Height, Weight: 6-2, 165

Offers: Arkansas, Michigan, Missouri, Notre Dame, Ole Miss, TCU, among others

The Boerne (Texas) transfer came to northwest Arkansas as an already established signal caller and immediately jumped on the Natural State scene with a breakout introductory performance Friday night.

Hendrix completed 21 of 35 passes (60%) for 472 yards – which is the third-most in school history for a single game – and 4 touchdowns to zero interceptions as the Fayetteville offense put up over 600 total yards in a 66-24 rout of Cabot.

ATH – Kevin “Deuce” Williams – Joe T. Robinson

Class: 2026

Height, Weight: 5-11, 188

Offers: Austin Peay, Central Arkansas, FIU, North Alabama, Northwestern State, Ouachita Baptist, Sacramento State, Tennessee – Martin

Now in his second year with the Senators, Williams outscored Pulaski Academy on his own in a season-opening 53-14 triumph. He intercepted Bruin quarterback William Svoboda on the Bruins’ first possession and returned it for a touchdown, plus returned a kickoff for a score as well as took one in one the ground.

DL – Xzavion Williams – Arkadelphia

Class: 2026

Height, Weight: 6-2, 205

Interest: Henderson State

It is very safe to claim with confidence that Arkadelphia had a top 5 defensive unit regardless of classification last fall en route to their 4A state championship run and they picked right back up in their 17-14 win over Camden Fairview.

Williams was a force, collecting 14 total tackles that included five for loss and 2.5 sacks while also recovering a fumble.

Honorable Mention: QB Cooper Caldwell (Murfreesboro), RB Trevion Greer (Newport), RB Korri Graham (DeWitt), WR Josiah Steen (Warren)

QB – Wally Wolcott – Hot Springs Lakeside

Class: 2026

Height, Weight: 6-0, 190

Offer: Hendrix College

It’s up for debate on whether or not Wolcott is the top quarterback in Class 5A, but it’s without question fair to say he’s somehow still the most underrated.

After leading the Rams on a state semifinal run as a first-time starter last season, Wolcott had a perfect outing in the Rams’ season-opening 56-20 victory over crosstown rival Lake Hamilton. He completed all 14 of his pass attempts for 304 yards and four touchdowns.
