Darius Acuff Jr. named to Naismith watch list
Arkansas Razorbacks freshman guard Darius Acuff Jr. has already garnered a plethora of preseason national attention and that continued on College Basketball 2025-26 Opening Day.
The Detroit, Mich., native was selected as one of 50 players for the prestigious Naismith National Player of the Year preseason watch list on Monday.
Acuff is also on the watch list for the Bob Cousy Award, All-SEC Third Team, plus multiple others.
He also earned all kinds of national honors as a prep prospect, including being named a McDonald’s All-American and the 2025 Allen Iverson National Player of the Year. Acuff was a consensus five-star, top 10 national recruit and was No. 9 overall in the 2025 class per the Rivals Industry Rating.
Acuff and the Razorbacks tip off their season Monday at Bud Walton Arena against the Southern Jaguars.
