Darius Acuff named to prestigious preseason watch list

Arkansas freshman guard Darius Acuff expects to make a huge impact for the preseason No. 14 Razorbacks and he was one of 20 names for the preseason Bob Cousy Award watchlist on Monday.

Given annually to the nation’s top point guard, the Bob Cousy Award is named in honor of former Holy Cross and Boston Celtic.

Acuff joins Labaron Philon Jr. (Alabama), Tahaad Pettiford (Auburn), Jaland Lowe (Kentucky), Josh Hubbard (Mississippi State, Jacobi Gillespie and former Razorback Boogie Land (Florida) as SEC guards who were also named to the watchlist.

The Detroit earned all kinds of national honors as a prep prospect, including being named a McDonald’s All-American and the 2025 Allen Iverson National Player of the Year. Acuff was a consensus five-star, top 10 national recruit and was No. 9 overall in the 2025 class per the Rivals Industry Rating.

Acuff and the Razorbacks take on the Memphis Tigers on Monday in the FedExForum for the St. Jude Tip Off Classic exhibition before officially tipping off the season on Nov. 3 against the Southern Jaguars inside Bud Walton Arena.
