LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — In-state five-star prospect and Arkansas legacy JJ Andrews has officially signed with the Arkansas basketball program.

Andrews, who committed to Arkansas in May over Missouri and LSU, put pen to paper and made it official at a Signing Day ceremony at Little Rock Christian Academy. After the ink dried, Andrews led the crowd in a “Woo Pig Sooie” chant.

In the past two years, Andrews helped the Warriors win back-to-back 4A State Championships in 2023 and 2024. At the Nike EYBL Peach Jam this past summer, he put the nation on notice and earned MVP honors with Brad Beal Elite. He averaged 18.2 points, 5.9 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game during the event.

“Playing the best of the best is one of the best opportunities in the world to really stand out,” Andrews said on Oct. 16. “Like, if you can stand out in that group then you can stand out almost anywhere. So, honestly, it was definitely a blessing and a great just chance to go out there and just help put Arkansas on the map even more.

“That is one of my goals is to get the media’s attention more in Arkansas because there is a lot of talent here. Really just going out there, doing what I can, giving my team the best opportunity to win.”

Andrews is one of the best players in the country and is a five-star prospect, the No. 14 in the class of 2026, No. 5 small forward and No. 1 player in the state of Arkansas according to On3’s Industry Rankings.

As a junior, Andrews put up video game numbers for the Warriors, and averaged 28.5 points, 10.1 rebounds and 3.3 assists per game. Little Rock Christian Academy made the jump to 5A and got to the quarterfinal round of the State Playoffs before losing to eventual champion Benton.

Andrews is the son of former Arkansas offensive lineman Shawn Andrews, who was a unanimous First Team All-American in 2002. His mother, Janetta, played basketball at Western Carolina. JJ’s given name is JaShawn, which is a blend of both his father and mother’s name.

Andrews is one of two Arkansas commits who signed in the early period, as four-star wing Abdou Toure also signed on Wednesday.
