The No. 21 Arkansas Razorbacks (3-1, 0-0 SEC) will host the Jackson State Tigers (0-4, 0-0 SWAC) at Bud Walton Arena in the final game a four-game homestand on Friday night.
The Hogs narrowly escaped with a win on Tuesday night with a dramatic 84-83 victory over Winthrop. Arkansas was down five points with less than two minutes but rattled off six points in a row to secure the win.
Jackson State presents an easier challenge than the Hogs’ previous two opponents were, and is winless to start the season. The Tigers’ most recent outing was a 112-66 bludgeoning at the hands of Auburn. The closest the Tigers have come to a win was a 17-point loss to Louisiana Tech.
The preseason favorite to win the SWAC, Jackson State features the SWAC preseason Player of the Year in Daeshun Ruffin, who began his career at Ole Miss. Of their four losses, three have come from nationally-ranked teams Illinois, Louisville and Auburn.
