FAYETTEVILLE — The Arkansas Razorbacks (6-2) got a statement 89-80 win over the No. 6 Louisville Cardinals (7-1) in the SEC/ACC Challenge at Bud Walton Arena on Wednesday night.

The entire first half belonged to Trevon Brazile, who scored eight straight at one point and had 17 in the first half. He looked to have tweaked his ankle and missed the last 3:30 of the first half. He returned and started the second half and finished with 21 points and five boards.

Defense will win you a lot of games, and that was on full display. The Hogs held the Cardinals to 41.4% shooting from the field and just 21.6% from three, which is their worst performance from the perimeter this season. Arkansas forced nine turnovers and scored 14 points off those turnovers.

The first half went all Arkansas’ way, as the Hogs got just about whatever they wanted, when they wanted it. They shot 52.9% from the field in the first 20 minutes and held the Cardinals to just 33%.

But the second half was a different story. Defensive lapses led to short bursts of scoring from the Cardinals, and what was a 20-point lead dwindled down to as little as five.

The Hogs continued to battle, though, and despite several more punches from the Cardinals, never wavered and took home the win.

Darius Acuff was a big part of that, as he finished with 17 points, 11 of which came in the second half, to go along with 10 assists.

As always, those on social media made sure to chime in with their thoughts during the game…
