Following the Future: Several GT commits keep state title hopes alive

The high school football season has reached the end of the regular season with several members of Georgia Tech’s 2026 class and two 2027 commits across the Southeast reaching the playoffs.

Here is a look at how each of the commits performed in their most recent games in this edition of Following the Future, which will keep up with them throughout their seasons:

2026 Commits

Darnell Collins, WR/S, Rome (Ga.)

Collins had a huge night in Rome’s hard-fought 38-28 victory over Houston County this past Friday in the second round of the state playoffs. Defensively at safety he had several tackles as well as an interception and a forced fumble. On the offensive side at receiver, Collins hauled in three catches for 40 yards. Rome (10-2) will next visit No. 1 seed Jackson County in the third round of the Class AAAAA State Playoffs this Friday.

JJ Winston, WR, Rome (Ga.)

Winston once again showed his value in Rome’s 38-28 home win over Houston County in the second round of the state playoffs. He went over the 100-yard receiving mark once again with seven catches for 104 yards and three touchdowns while also having several solid kick and punt returns on special teams. Rome (10-2) will next visit No. 1 seed Jackson County in the third round of the Class AAAAA State Playoffs this Friday.

Jeffar Jean-Noel, WR, American Heritage (Fla.)

American Heritage rolled to a 48-7 home win over Plantation in the second round of the postseason. Jean-Noel finished with four catches for 73 yards in the victory. American Heritage (6-5) will now visit Archbishop McCarthy in the third round of Class 4A Florida State Playoffs this Friday.

CJ Gamble, LB, Carrollton (Ga.)

Gamble finished with four total tackles (two solo), one sack and 1.5 tackles-for-loss in Carrollton’s 51-6 home win over Harrison on Friday in the second round of the state playoffs. Carrollton (12-0) will now host Grayson in the third round of the Class AAAAAA State Playoffs this Friday in a rematch of last year’s Class AAAAA State Championship Game.

Nathan Agyemang, TE, Kell (Ga.)

Kell battled for a 17-10 home win over Southwest DeKalb in the second round of the postseason on Friday. Agyemang didn’t record any individual stats on offense in the victory but did have one solo tackle on defense. No. 1 seed Kell (10-2) will now host fellow No. 1 seed Cartersville in the third round of Class AAAA State Playoffs this Friday.

Traeviss Stevenson, CB, Brooks County (Ga.)

Brooks County kept its season alive with a 14-7 road win at Johnson County on Friday in the Georgia State Playoffs. Stevenson didn’t record any individual stats in the game. Brooks County (7-5) will next visit No. 1 seed Lincoln County in the third round of the Class A Division II State Playoffs this Friday.

Jack Richerson, TE, Marist (Ga.)

Richerson suffered an injury in his team’s win over North Springs on Oct. 3 that will unfortunately cost him the rest of his senior season. Marist (11-1) earned a 28-10 home win over Blessed Trinity in the second round on Friday and will now visit North Oconee in the third round of the Class AAAA State Playoffs as this Friday.

Kymani Morales, LB, American Heritage (Fla.)

American Heritage rolled past Plantation 48-7 on Friday at home in the second round of the postseason. Morales missed the game due to an injury. American Heritage (6-5) will now visit Archbishop McCarthy in the third round of Class 4A Florida State Playoffs this Friday.

Ladarrious “LJ” Crumity, CB, Madison County (Fla.)

Crumity and Madison County lost a 33-32 thriller on Friday to end their season in the second round of the Florida State “Rural” Playoffs. Offensively at quarterback, Crumity ran for 101 yards on 14 carries with three touchdowns while also throwing for 132 yards on 10-of-19 passing with three interceptions. No defensive stats were available. Madison County wraps up the season with a 6-6 record.

Courtney Heard, OL, East Coweta (Ga.)

East Coweta’s season and Heard’s high school career came to an end as the Indians lost 49-14 at home to Walton in the second round of the Class AAAAAA State Playoffs. No individual stats were available from the game. East Coweta finishes its season with a record of 4-8.

Courtlin Heard, OL, East Coweta (Ga.)

East Coweta’s season and Heard’s high school career came to an end as the Indians lost 49-14 at home to Walton in the second round of the Class AAAAAA State Playoffs. No individual stats were available from the game. East Coweta finishes its season with a record of 4-8.

Amier Clarke, DL, Osceola (Fla.)

Osceola suffered a 19-13 loss this past Friday in the second round of the Class 6-A Florida State Playoffs at South Lake as Clarke’s high school career came to a sudden end. No individual stats were available for Clarke after the game. Osceola finishes its season with a record of 7-5.

Freddie Wilson, DL, Spruce Creek (Fla.)

Wilson’s high school career and Spruce Creek’s season came to an end on Friday with a 50-20 loss at Lake Mary in the second round of the Florida Class 7A State Playoffs. No individual stats for Wilson were available after the game. Spruce Creek wraps up the season with a record of 9-3.

Jonathan Genty, P, Blessed Trinity (Ga.)

Blessed Trinity fell to Marist 28-10 in the second round of the Class AAAA State Playoffs on Friday. Genty No individual stats were available for Genty after the loss. Blessed Trinity finishes its season with a record of 7-5.

Kentrell Davis, WR, Parker (Ala.)

Parker’s season and Davis’ high school career came to a sudden end on Nov. 14 with a tight 17-14 loss at Muscle Shoals in the second round of the Alabama State Playoffs. Parker ended the season with a final record of 8-4.

Isaac Obrokta, WR, Rabun Gap-Nacoochee (Ga.)

Rabun Gap suffered a season-ending 55-48 loss at home to Charlotte Christian on Nov. 14 in the NCISAA Playoffs as Obrokta saw his high school career come to an end. Rabun Gap wrapped up its season with a 7-5 record.

Jaedyn Terry, CB, Manchester (Ga.)

Manchester suffered a 55-20 loss in the first round of the Class A Division II State Playoffs as Terry saw his high school career come to an end on Nov. 14. Manchester finished its season with a final record of 4-6.

Alex Willis, Edge/DE, The First Academy (Fla.)

The First Academy and Willis finished off its 2025 season with a 35-28 victory at Lakeland in double-overtime on Oct. 31. The First Academy finishes the season with a 5-5 record.

2027 commits

Keyon Standifer, Athlete/WR, Athens Academy

Athens Academy finally opened its playoff run on Friday after receiving a bye in the first round of the Class A-AAA Private State Playoffs and defeated Holy Innocents 48-37 at home in the second round to advance. Standifer had another eye-opening individual stat line with 12 catches for 282 yards and four touchdowns with a long of 78. He also ran for six yards on one rushing attempt and had one assisted tackle. No. 3 seed Athens Academy (10-1) will now host No. 6 seed Greater Atlanta Christian in the third round this Friday.

Jordan Christie, WR, Southwest DeKalb

Southwest DeKalb’s season came to an end on Friday with a 17-10 loss at Kell in the second round of the Class AAAA State Playoffs. Christie had two catches for 24 yards in the loss. Southwest DeKalb finishes its season with a record of 9-3.
