Georgia Tech placed 17th in initial College Football Playoff Rankings
The first College Football Playoff Rankings of the 2025 season were released on Tuesday night on ESPN, and Georgia Tech (8-1) was placed at No. 17.
The Jackets are coming off their first loss of the season, falling 48-36 to NC State on the road this past Saturday, after the best start for the program since 1966.
Georgia Tech was ranked No. 14 in the latest Coaches Poll and No. 16 in the latest Associated Press Top 25 on Sunday.
Also among the CFP Top 25 rankings on Tuesday night were fellow ACC teams Louisville at No. 14, Virginia at No. 15, Miami at No. 18 and Pittsburgh at No. 24. The top 10 included No. 1 Ohio State, No. 2 Indiana, No. 3 Texas A&M, No. 4 Alabama, No. 5 Georgia, No. 6 Ole Miss, No. 7 BYU, No. 8 Texas Tech, No. 9 Oregon and No. 10 Notre Dame.
Georgia Tech and head coach Brent Key have a bye week following the loss at NC State but will return to action next Saturday when they visit Boston College for an ACC matchup set for a 3:30 p.m. kickoff. After that the Jackets will close out the season with two huge resume opportunities as they host No. 24 Pittsburgh on Nov. 22 and then battle rival and No. 5 Georgia on Nov. 28 at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
