Jackets continue rise in polls, moving to 12 in both Coaches and AP Top 25

On Saturday the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets moved to 6-0, the team’s best start since 2011, and on Sunday they continued to see the rewards for their efforts.

Georgia Tech continued to rise in both major Top 25 polls when they were released Sunday, coming in at No. 12 in the Coaches Poll for an upward movement of one spot, while earning the No. 12 spot in the Associated Press Poll, after being No. 13 on that list a week ago.

The Jackets’ No. 12 ranking ties for their highest regular-season ranking since early October of 2011, also the last time the won their first six games of the season.

Georgia Tech and head coach Brent Key achieved bowl eligibility with Saturday’s 35-20 win over Virginia Tech as well as the team is now expected to head to a bowl for the third straight season for the first time since last accomplishing the feat over the course of the 2012 to 2014 seasons.

Next up for Georgia Tech is a trip to Durham, N.C. Saturday to battle Duke (4-2, 3-0) in a noon kickoff for the ACC showdown. The Blue Devils received 11 votes in Sunday’s Coaches Poll as they have won three straight before a bye this past week.
