Jackets stay at No. 16 in newest College Football Playoff Rankings

After a double-digit comeback victory on the road at Boston College, Georgia Tech (9-1, 6-1 ACC) stayed at No. 16 in the latest College Football Playoff Rankings announced on Tuesday.
Brent Key‘s Jackets debuted in the rankings at No. 17 two weeks ago and moved up one spot last week to No. 16 before the latest list on Tuesday night. Other ACC teams in the latest rankings included Miami at No. 13 and Virginia at No. 19.
As the highest-rated ACC team, Miami was slotted into the projected College Football Playoff bracket on Tuesday as the No. 11 seed opposite of No. 6 Ole Miss.
The new chair of the selection committee, Hunter Yurachek, said when asked about Georgia Tech on Tuesday that the Jackets’ strength of schedule being at 88th is a factor in their ranking being at 16.
“They need to continue to keep winning games and hope some things happen ahead of them that clear a path for them to move up,” said Yurachek about Georgia Tech.
Georgia Tech has a huge matchup ahead on Saturday night at 7 p.m. at Bobby Dodd Stadium as the Jackets welcome Pittsburgh to The Flats. A Georgia Tech win clinches a spot in the ACC Championship Game in Charlotte on Dec. 6.
