For the second straight game, Georgia Tech will be without a pair of important defensive pieces as both cornerback Ahmari Harvey and defensive tackle Akelo Stone remain out with injuries for Saturday’s ACC home matchup vs. Syracuse according to head coach Brent Key on Thursday.

Key updated the Jackets’ full injury situation to open his Thursday press conference and let everyone know that Harvey and Stone would still be out as expected. Also ruled out by Key was safety Savion Riley linebacker/special teamer Myles Forristall.

Harvey, a redshirt-senior, suffered his lower-body injury against Virginia Tech late in the game on Oct. 11 while Stone, also a redshirt-senior, has been out since a lower-body injury that occurred in the Wake Forest game back on Sept. 27.

Also according to Key, players ruled “questionable” for Saturday’s game are defensive back Jy Gilmore, wide receiver Malik Rutherford and offensive lineman Harrison Moore, all starters who were banged up in the Duke game last Saturday.

Running back Chad Alexander, who has been out since suffering an injury in the spring, does not appear on the injury report this week as he will be available for Saturday’s game for the first time this season.

Redshirt-senior long snapper Will Benton IV was lost for the rest of the season due to a knee injury suffered in the game at Wake Forest while Riley hasn’t played since the season opener at Colorado due to an upper-body injury and Forristall has been out since suffering an injury in the game at Wake Forest. The timeline for Riley’s return is steal unclear.

The full injury report for both teams and the rest of the ACC for Saturday’s games will be available later at this link.

Georgia Tech (7-0, 4-0 ACC) and Syracuse (3-4, 1-3) will kick off at noon on Saturday as the Jackets celebrate Homecoming Weekend on The Flats.
