Questions and expectations for Georgia Tech ahead of Colorado

Georgia Tech football opens the 2025 season in one week with a high-profile road trip to face Colorado in Boulder. The Yellow Jackets return one of the most experienced and productive offenses in college football, led by veteran quarterback Haynes King, and expectations are high for continued growth under head coach Brent Key. While there’s little concern surrounding King and the offensive unit, which ranked among the ACC’s best in 2024, the defense is a different story. Under new defensive coordinator Blake Gideon, Georgia Tech is undergoing a major transition on that side of the ball. The Yellow Jackets brought in multiple transfers to retool the defensive front and improve a pass rush that struggled last season. The linebacker corps has experience and talent, while the secondary brings back key pieces but must improve its consistency. As Georgia Tech prepares for its Week 1 showdown against Deion Sanders and the Buffaloes, all eyes will be on whether this rebuilt defense can keep pace with an offense capable of lighting up the scoreboard. Here are three big questions we have going into the Colorado game.
