Sources: Tech's Buster Faulkner expected to be new OC at Florida
On3’s Pete Nakos and Chris Low as well as ESPN’s Pete Thamel reported on Thursday afternoon that Georgia Tech offensive coordinator Buster Faulkner will be named the new offensive coordinator at Florida under recently hired head coach Jon Sumrall.
Faulkner just completed his third regular season at Georgia Tech as the OC, leading the Jackets’ offense to rankings in the top half of the ACC in 2023 and 2024 in rushing, total offense, scoring and passing efficiency. This past season the Jackets were first in total offense (485.9 yards per game) and second in the ACC in scoring (35.3 ppg) and rushing (215.2 ypg).
Faulkner came to Georgia Tech after a stint from 2020-2022 at Georgia as a quality control coach for quarterbacks where he was a part of two national championships with the Bulldogs. He has 20 years of coaching experience total with stops serving at different positions at Valdosta State, Central Arkansas, Murray State, Middle Tennessee, Arkansas State and Southern Miss prior to his time at Tech and UGA.
The news comes just a day after Georgia Tech announced it had come to an agreement with head coach Brent Key on a contract extension through the 2030 season.
