Availability Report: Several key OU players questionable vs. Alabama
The first SEC Availability Report of Week 11 was released Wednesday night. The report is again lengthy for Oklahoma.
OU defensive end R Mason Thomas and defensive tackle Jayden Jackson are listed as questionable to play this Saturday against Alabama. In a bit of positive news, linebacker Kobie McKinzie and wide receiver Keontez Lewis are listed as probable.
Here’s the full availability report:
According to the SEC Availability Report, players listed as questionable as “uncertain to play due to injury or condition.” Players listed as doubtful are “unlikely to play due to significant concerns.” Players who are probable are “likely to play, barring any setbacks.”
In addition to Thomas and Jackson, running backs Jovantae Barnes and Taylor Tatum are listed as questionable. Offensive lineman Derek Simmons, who has missed the last two games, is also listed as probable.
Gentry Williams, who has missed the last two games, is not on the report, indicating he will be available.
Thomas’ availability will be worth monitoring through the week. The star defensive end injured his groin in the last game against Tennessee during his 71-yard fumble-return touchdown. He has appeared in all nine games this season, totaling 23 tackles, 9.5 tackles for loss and 6.5 sacks.
Jackson’s inclusion on the report is unexpected. He has started all seven games this season, and he played 39 snaps in the win over Tennessee.
McKinzie has started the first eight games for OU this season, recording 24 tackles, 5.5 tackles for loss and one sack. He missed the last game against Tennessee, though he was made active for it.
Lewis has missed the last three weeks, and his return would be a huge boost for the Sooners. He has 19 receptions for 226 yards and two touchdowns this season.
Additional availability reports will be released Thursday, Friday and 90 minutes before kickoff.
The Sooners take on Alabama at 2:30 p.m. Saturday in Tuscaloosa. The game will be broadcast on ABC.
