Courtland Guillory, Tory Blaylock named to All-SEC Freshman Team
The accolades continue to roll in for Oklahoma.
OU cornerback Courtland Guillory and running back Tory Blaylock were named to the All-SEC Freshman Team on Thursday. Both players have been key for the Sooners all season, combining for 17 starts while appearing in every single game.
Guillory has started in 10 games this season and has been pivotal as Gentry Williams and Eli Bowen have dealt with injuries. He has 39 tackles, one tackle for loss, six pass breakups and a quarterback hurry. He’s played the second-most snaps on the entire defense (585), trailing only Peyton Bowen.
Blaylock has been by far the steadiest presence in the Sooners’ backfield. In addition to being the only running back who has played in all 12 games — despite dealing with a shoulder injury — he leads the team in rushing yards (444) while adding four touchdowns on 109 carries. He has two 100-yard games this season and became the first OU freshman since DeMarco Murray in 2007 to have an 100-yard game in one of his first three games.
The Sooners landed 10 players on the All-SEC teams on Tuesday, while Tate Sandell was named SEC Special Teams Player of the Year.
The Sooners host Alabama next Friday (7 p.m. CT on ABC) for the first round of the College Football Playoff.
