Oklahoma picked up a trio of SEC weekly honors after its impressive win over No. 4 Alabama last weekend.

Sooners’ cornerback Eli Bowen was named Defensive Player of the Week for his efforts in the 23-21 win over the Crimson Tide. Tate Sandell was yet again named SEC Special Teams Player of the Week for another sensational outing, which included three pivotal made field goals. Taylor Wein was named SEC Defensive Lineman of the Week.

This marks the third time Sandell has earned special teams player of the week, while it’s the first weekly award for Bowen and Wein. The Sooners have earned 11 weekly honors this season.

Bowen made arguably the biggest play of the game against the Crimson Tide. In the first quarter, Bowen intercepted Ty Simpson and returned it for an 87-yard touchdown that gave the Sooners a 10-point lead. It was Bowen’s second career interception — his first one came against Alabama last season — and just the second interception Simpson has thrown this season.

Bowen finished with five tackles while playing 52 of the team’s 77 snaps.

Sandell made all three of his field goal attempts, including a 52-yard attempt and a 24-yard attempt in the fourth quarter that gave the Sooners the lead for good. Sandell has now made a program-record 21 field goals in a row, which includes 14 makes from beyond 40 yards and seven from beyond 50. It’s the longest streak of field goals in a single season in SEC history.

Wein recorded a sack and a tackle for loss against Alabama and made two of the game’s most critical plays. He blocked a field goal right before halftime that kept the Sooners in the lead and forced a strip sack of Simpson in the third quarter, which led to Sandell’s third field goal. Wein leads the team in tackles for loss (12) while ranking second in sacks (4.5).

The Sooners (8-2, 4-2 SEC) return to action this weekend against Missouri (11 a.m. ABC).
