How high can Oklahoma's defense soar in 2025? "Top five"

The leadership core of Oklahoma's defense has grown up together in Norman. Six of the Sooners' projected defensive starters this fall were members of the program's 2022 recruiting class. Four of those six (Kip Lewis, Gracen Halton, Robert Spears-Jennings and R Mason Thomas) earned the nod as team captains earlier this week. That quartet, alongside Kobie McKinzie and Gentry Williams, gives Oklahoma a nucleus that's collectively entering Year 4 in the system.
