Cooper Hackett committed to Texas Tech last month. But the five-star offensive tackle's heart wasn't really in it. The Fort Gibson (Okla.) product, a lifelong Sooner fan, wanted to wear the crimson and cream. That desire never abated. One could surmise the likely reasons for his brief pledge to Tech, but for Hackett, all roads led to OU. “I mean, I’ve told everyone that I hoped I’d end up in Norman," he laughed. "Going to Oklahoma was the plan since day one.” And as of Thursday, Hackett's childhood dream is a reality. Less than four weeks after pledging to the Red Raiders, the 6-foot-7 behemoth of a lineman has flipped his commitment to Oklahoma. And it's a decision he'll never have any reason to second-guess. “I’ve been in Norman the last three weekends and the last two games," Hackett told OUInsider shortly before announcing his pledge. "It just really feels like home to me, especially with all the players. And going in the locker room after games, I just feel like I know everyone there. It just feels like an environment I want to be in. I’d be up in Norman right now if I could be.”
