Oklahoma OL Troy Everett out for season with knee injury, Brent Venables announces

When the Sooners traveled to Philadelphia on Saturday to take on Temple, one noteworthy player who did not make the trip was captain Troy Everett, who opened the season as the starting center for Oklahoma’s offensive line.
On Tuesday during his weekly press conference, Sooners head coach Brent Venables announced that the senior offensive lineman will miss the remainder of the 2025 season due to a knee injury he suffered in practice last Tuesday.
“Just devastating,” said Venables. “He’ll have to lead in a different type of way. Really hurt for him.”
Everett started at center for the Sooners against Illinois State, where he played 39 total snaps, and was a key piece for depth purposes even after Jake Maikkula took over as the starting center for Oklahoma.
This is not only a blow for depth purposes, but the Sooners also lose a captain and veteran leader who brought valuable experience to the offensive line. Everett will now have to lead from the sideline.
The season-ending injury further thins Oklahoma’s depth at center behind Maikkula, who has stepped up in a major way. He posted an 86.1 pass-blocking grade against Michigan and an 85.3 grade against Temple, placing him among the top 15 FBS offensive linemen in pass-blocking, according to PFF.
