Oklahoma WR signee Xavier Okwufulueze a state champion
Xavier Okwufulueze is carrying the flag for his home state in Oklahoma’s 2026 signing class.
For the first time in the 21st century, the Sooners only signed one homegrown player in a recruiting cycle. Okwufulueze, the 6-foot-4, 200-pound wideout from Owasso (Okla.), is the lone in-state product headed to Norman with the 2026 class. And as he prepares to graduate from Rejoice Christian School and enroll at OU, he’s going out on top.
On Thursday night, the dynamic wideout led Rejoice to a victory in the Class A-I state championship game, notching two touchdown catches and an interception in the Eagles’ triumph over Tonkawa. The championship represents a final flourish on a triumphant season for Okwufulueze and Rejoice, as the Eagles went 13-1 and successfully defended their 2024 state title.
Okwufulueze reeled in a 28-yard touchdown pass from Kamieon Compton-Nero in the first quarter, just moments after he’d picked off an errant Tonkawa throw. That score gave the Eagles an early 13-0 lead, and Okwufulueze would follow up with the killshot in the fourth quarter. With the Eagles leading 20-13, he broke free for a spectacular 48-yard catch and run to paydirt. Rejoice would later add another touchdown for insurance en route to a 34-13 win.
Okwufulueze finished the game with three catches for 85 yards and the two touchdowns.
The converted basketball player is one of four wideouts in Oklahoma’s 2026 class, alongside Daniel Odom, Jayden Petit and Jahsiear Rogers. He is currently regarded as the nation’s No. 76 wide receiver and No. 505 overall player, according to the Rivals industry rankings. Okwufulueze will enroll at Oklahoma in June.
