It turns out that Oklahoma wasn’t quite done making moves in the transfer portal, as OU fans were treated to another “Go Boomer” tweet from Patty Gasso.

The Sooners received a commitment from former Ole Miss pitcher Miali Guachino on Tuesday. Guachino, who just wrapped up her true freshman season, has three years of eligibility remaining.

Guachino was the leading pitcher for the Rebels last season as they advanced to the Women’s College World Series. She pitched a team-high 147.1 innings, recording a 3.43 ERA to go with 172 strikeouts and a .223 opponent batting average.

The California native — ranked as the No. 9 prospect in the 2024 class by Extra Innings Softball — was an unexpected entry into the portal last month and was heavily pursued by several major programs. Her commitment to the Sooners comes just a few days after she visited campus.

Guachino joins former LSU pitcher Sydney Berzon as the second portal commitment for the Sooners this offseason.

With Guachino in the fold, the Sooners will bring a pitcher-heavy roster into next season. Along with Berzon and Guachino, the Sooners are also adding true freshmen Allyssa Parker and Berkley Zache into the fold to join Kierston Deal, Audrey Lowry, Sophia Bordi and Paytn Monticelli. That gives the Sooners eight pitchers, with five of them underclassmen.

While Berzon is likely to serve as the team’s ace, Guachino will certainly be in the mix for significant playing time next season.

The Sooners finished last season with a 52-9 record and a Women’s College World Series semifinals appearance.
