TAKEAWAYS
— The Sooners have found their one-two punch at running back with Blaylock and Robinson. More notably, the Sooners found the right balance between those guys. Blaylock played 56% of the snaps and likely would’ve played more if the game was competitive. Robinson played 34% and was effective in his snaps.
Ott didn’t play until garbage time. That’s likely the picture for him moving forward.
— With Keontez Lewis out, Gibson made his first start and immediately stepped into a full workload. The Sooners stayed true to their three-man rotation at wide receiver. It’ll be interesting to monitor that when Lewis returns.
— Notably, Kanak and Helms played nearly the same amount of snaps at tight end. That continues a trend we saw from last week, as Helms continue to progress from his injury and find more involvement in the offense.
— Stone made his second start at defensive tackle and led the group in snaps. He has made it difficult to take him off the field, even with the depth OU has on the interior.
— Wein didn’t start at defensive end, but he was again one of the most productive and disruptive players on defense. He’s emerging as the Sooners’ second-best defensive end and one of the most important defensive players, period.
— Jordan notably led the cornerbacks in snaps. Both he and Guillory played more than Eli Bowen, who struggled a bit against South Carolina’s receivers.
— Both Boganowski and Hardy have carved out real roles at safety. Boganowski has played 16 snaps in all but one game this season. Hardy has played 32 snaps the last two weeks.
