Expectations remain mixed for the Sooners heading into the 2025 season.

The Sooners landed at No. 10 in the preseason SEC poll on Friday. It’s a small projected step up from last season, when the Sooners finished 14th in the SEC with a 6-7 overall record and 2-6 record in SEC play.

Texas finished at No. 1 in the preseason poll, and also led the vote total for the projected SEC champion (96). The Sooners received three voting points as the projected SEC champion, the sixth most behind Texas, Georgia, Alabama, LSU and South Carolina.

Georgia, Alabama, LSU and South Carolina rounded out the top five of the preseason poll.

The poll indicates that the Sooners are projected to be a middle-of-the-pack team in the SEC standings. They will play six of the nine teams ranked ahead of them in the preseason standings — Texas, Alabama, Ole Miss, Tennessee, South Carolina and LSU.

The Sooners also had three players named to the All-SEC preseason teams, including R Mason Thomas and Jaydn Ott on the second team and Ben Anderson on the third team.

The season kicks off for the Sooners on Aug. 30 against Illinois State.
