R Mason Thomas, Jaydn Ott named to All-SEC preseason teams

The Sooners landed a trio of players on the All-SEC preseason teams on Friday.
Senior defensive end R Mason Thomas and redshirt junior running back Jaydn Ott both picked up second-team honors. Long snapper Ben Anderson landed third-team honors.
Thomas was a likely preseason selection after landing on the All-SEC second team a year ago. He had a breakout season in 2024, leading the Sooners in both tackles for loss (12) and sacks (9.5). Thomas was also one of three player representatives for the Sooners at SEC Media Days on Wednesday, joining John Mateer and Robert Spears-Jennings.
The preseason accolade for Ott adds even more excitement to his addition during the offseason. Ott was a three-year starter at California and was one of the most explosive running backs in 2023, when he finished with a 1,315 yards and 12 touchdowns while averaging 5.3 yards per carry.
Anderson, who has been the starting long snapper the last two seasons, was named to the All-SEC third team a year ago and was a semifinalist for the Patrick Mannelly Award.
The preseason SEC standings are expected to be announced Friday afternoon.
