The Associated Press dropped its annual preseason rankings on Monday, and it includes Oklahoma.

The Sooners came in at No. 18 in the AP Top 25 poll, marking the 26th straight season they’ve been ranked in the preseason. The Sooners are one of 10 SEC teams ranked in the AP Top 25.

Texas came in at No. 1, followed by Georgia at No. 5. Alabama (8), LSU (9), South Carolina (13), Florida (15), Texas A&M (19), Ole Miss (21) and Tennessee (24) round out the SEC teams in the poll. The Sooners play six of the SEC teams ranked in the poll.

The Sooners will also play Michigan — ranked No. 14 in the poll — in Week 2.

The appearance in the poll comes after the Sooners were ranked No. 16 in last year’s preseason poll. The Sooners finished the season unranked with a 6-7 record and fell out of the rankings after Week 7. The Sooners were also unranked in the annual preseason coaches poll that came out earlier month.

However, the Sooners made several marquee offseason additions that have generated preseason momentum, particularly quarterback John Mateer and running back Jaydn Ott.

The Sooners open the season on Aug. 30 at home against Illinois State.
