The five plays that shaped Oklahoma's CFP run

When No. 8 Oklahoma hosts No. 9 Alabama in the first round of the College Football Playoff on Friday, it'll be the third matchup between the teams in the span of 13 months. The Sooners defeated the Crimson Tide 24-3 in Norman in November 2024, then upended them once again last month in Tuscaloosa by a final score of 23-21. It was the latter victory that solidified Oklahoma's case for the CFP field in 2025. Brent Venables' squad already boasted ranked wins over Michigan, Auburn and Tennessee, but those notches in their proverbial belt paled in comparison to the hard-fought road victory at Bryant-Denny Stadium. It ended Alabama's streak of 17 straight home victories, which was the longest such streak in the nation at the time.
