New Boston (TX) RB Ace Rowden commits to Texas Tech

Garret McGuire has his running back for the 2026 class with New Boston RB Ace Rowden committing to Texas Tech. The 4-star tailback is the No. 23-ranked player in the state of Texas and is No. 177 in the country.
Rowden breaks the seal, commits to Texas Tech
The Red Raiders were able to snag Rowden over the likes of Minnesota, TCU and Houston. Rowden took official visits to all four of his suitors, but ultimately found home in Lubbock in early June.
“To be honest, it’s kind of been a thing,” Rowden told me for RedRaiderSports. “They (Tech) let me go on all my official visits before I even made my choice. But, it’s like they already knew. Like the rest of the schools, we didn’t even worry about it. They just held it.”
With 22 total offers, the list of contenders for Rowden’s services was a long one. Tech was able to seal the deal to add another blue-chip prospect to a steady-rising ‘26 group.
Rowden is Tech’s second July pledge– Panther Creek safety Donovan Webb gave the Red Raiders his word Tuesday.
Red Raiders in focus for Rowden
In the fast and furious world of recruiting, it is not unheard of for schools to pull offers from prospects who choose to take other official visits.
As Rowden mentioned, the Tech staff allowed him to explore his options. That did not mean their interest cooled off on him, however.
“Tech’s the only school from the start that never let up the gas,” Rowden said. “They were always coming down here, chasing me, calling me. I can tell they wanted me there just as much as I wanted to be there. It’s just the showing of great hospitality and stuff like that.”

As Rowden commits to Texas Tech, he can now completely shift his focus to his senior season. According to his MaxPreps page, Rowden rushed for 1,337 yards and 14 touchdowns on 146 carries in nine games as a junior. He will be looking to stack onto that heavy production before early enrolling at Tech.
“It really feels great,” Rowden said of being committed. “Now that it’s over and done, I can focus on one school instead of which school I’m gonna choose. There was a lot of hard work and thought that goes into that. But now when you pick one, I feel great. I feel good about my decision.”
