Big 12 schedule released for Red Raider basketball

The Big 12 conference schedule for men’s hoops was released for McCasland’s crew on Tuesday, starting Big 12 play at home against Oklahoma State on Tuesday, January 3rd.
Texas Tech finished the season 28-9 (15-5 Big 12) and made an Elite 8 appearance with a loss to the eventual national champion, Florida. The Red Raiders added key transfers during the offseason, including LeJuan Watts, Tyeree Bryan, Donovan Atwell, and others, while also retaining sophomore Christian Anderson and the reigning Big 12 Player of the Year, JT Toppin.
Tech’s conference schedule
The three teams Tech will play twice during the season are Houston, BYU, and Colorado. The Red Raiders will play at Houston for the second game of conference play and meet them back in Lubbock just over two weeks after the first meeting. Tech will host BYU on January 17th and then head to Provo for their last conference game on March 7th. They will travel to Colorado for their third conference game of the season on January 10th, and then the Buffs will visit on February 11th.
Key Matchups
Tech will host Kansas on February 2nd for Big Monday, and securing a win against the Jayhawks will be huge, especially after a January lineup of road games at Houston and Baylor, as well as home games against the Cougars again and BYU.
Because Tech plays Houston and BYU both home and away, securing wins at home against both teams will be extremely important, as well as figuring out ways to win on the road, which the Red Raiders were able to do at both away games against these teams last season. Winning on the road against Arizona would also be a huge victory, as well as in Ames against Iowa State.
Head coach Grant McCasland has proven he can win on the road in big matchups, and those will be crucial for the Red Raiders to reach their goals to prepare for March.
