Caleb Douglas, Reggie Virgil named to Biletnikoff watch list

It was announced on Wednesday that Texas Tech wide receivers Caleb Douglas and Reggie Virgil have been named to the 2025 Biletnikoff Award Preseason watch list, an award given to the nation’s most outstanding receiver.
The Red Raiders were only one of eight schools nationwide to have multiple players selected to the Biletnikoff Award watch list. 47 total players were selected, including 10 representing the Big 12.
Douglas and Virgil heading into the season
Going into the 2025 season, this will be the second season for Douglas as a Red Raider, and Virgil is entering his first. Last season, Douglas was Tech’s second-leading receiver after he had 60 catches for 877 yards and six touchdowns.
Before coming to Tech this past spring, Virgil spent his first three years at Miami (OH). Before entering the transfer portal, Virgil had a breakout season in 2024 after having 41 receptions for 816 yards and nine touchdowns.
About the Biletnikoff Award
Each year, the award recognizes the most outstanding FBS receiver from the season, with any receiver position being available to receive the award. It’s named after former Florida State receiver Fred Biletnikoff. He is a member of the Pro and College Football Halls of Fame, an All-American, and was an All-Pro receiver for the Oakland Raiders. During his 14-year NFL career, he had 589 catches for 8,974 yards and 76 touchdowns, and was named the MVP in Super Bowl Xl.
The semifinalists, finalists, and winner will be decided by the Biletnikoff Award National Selection Committee, which consists of 600 college football journalists, commentators, announcers, other Biletnikoff Award winners, and former receivers.
