Cam Dickey runs all over Kansas on homecoming

Texas Tech RB Cam Dickey had a massive night against the Jayhawk defense. Picking up 263 yards, and 2 touchdowns on 21 carries. For those taking note, that’s 12.5/YPC. The sophomore running back was a huge factor in tonight’s ballgame, and the Red Raiders came out victorious on homecoming.
Dickey spoke to the media shortly after his appearance in this week’s postgame media availability.
Cam was asked about Saturday night, and how it felt different among other games he’s been a part of.
“Oh, it felt great. I feel like we had a great week of practice.”
Dickey spoke a little bit on his first big run of the night to get the Red Raiders on the board early against the Jayhawks. His run, and the following forced turnover by the defense really brought the crowd into the game.
“O-Line did a great job. It split like the Red Sea and just off to the races.”
Dickey was able to have a huge night, with Sheridan Wilson and the rest of the Red Raider offensive line giving him the gaps, and space he needed to break them.
“They (Offensive line) had a great night. They make it easy, and put it all on them”
J’Koby Williams was slightly limited in practice this week, Cam speaks a little on what this week’s game prep looked like compared to others and the extra workload.
“I feel like I got a few more reps in practice, and I feel like it really helped out for the game.”
“It wasn’t too much, just another day. So, it was a great week.”
Will Hammond came into the game for an injured Behren Morton late in the 2nd half, Dickey speaks on how Hammond’s running ability changed Kansas’ defensive scheme.
“Yeah, knowing kind of they have to respect Will if he pulled it, you know, he pulled it on one of the plays down in the red zone, and I feel like that helped the run game.”
The crowd was wild in the Jones Saturday night; Cam speaks on what it felt like playing in the crazy atmosphere on homecoming.
“I love playing at the Jones, especially a night game. The crowd definitely showed up and it was definitely a fun game to be a part of.”
Dickey’s huge efforts Saturday night led to him earning a spot at fifth among largest rushing games in Texas Tech history.
“Yea it’s pretty amazing. But you know, just give it to all the guys that help me out with that.”
Texas Tech allowed Kansas to get back into the game towards the end of the 1st half, Dickey speaks a little bit on that and their fight.
“Coach McGuire says blowout games are boring. We love to be in a fight, so I feel like that we are really reared for games like this.”
Ultimately…
This was a huge one in the grand scheme of things for the Red Raiders who aim for their first Big 12 Championship, and College Football Playoff appearance. Tech will look to roll Cam Dickey’s performance into next week’s matchup in Tempe against the Sun Devils. Texas Tech is now bowl eligible, and has still yet to trail this season.
