Want to know more about the No. 1 QB in 2027 who just pledged to become a Red Raider? We dive into some fun facts about Kavian Bryant.

Texas Tech continues to stack talent in the high school ranks in upcoming classes– most recently adding 2027’s No. 1 quarterback offering in Kavian Bryant. The Palestine (TX) Westwood product is a multi-talented athlete with tremendous upside. To get you up to speed on Bryant, here are some fun facts on the top junior QB.

1) Texas Tech offered Bryant for football and basketball

The Red Raiders were the 10th program to offer Bryant a football scholarship. Tech also gave Bryant his second reported basketball offer Oct. 17 a year ago. Arizona State followed suit a week later and offered the then-sophomore for his talents on the hardwood.

2) Bryant has trained with a former Tech QB

Take this with a grain of salt, but Bryant has had a distant connection to Texas Tech for some time. Well before he had ever been offered by Tech, Bryant trained with former Red Raider Donovan Smith in Houston.

3) This quarterback is also an elite-level hooper

To earn power conference offers for both football and basketball is an absurd accomplishment. What helped Bryant get on the radar for schools on the hardwood? Scoring 1,000 points is a pretty good start. He did just that as a freshman at Westwood, per his MaxPreps page.

4) Bryant’s recruitment included several unofficial visits to West Texas

The Red Raiders welcomed the young signal caller to West Texas several times in their courtship of his services. The first came weeks after earning his Tech offer on Nov. 9 when Bryant got to take in the monster matchup versus Colorado. He camped at Tech this past June and again on Sept. 13 when the Red Raiders beat Oregon State.

5) The Quarterback Whisperer had his eyes on Bryant

Mack Leftwich has been renowned for his role in discovering eventual Heisman winner and No. 1 NFL Draft pick Cam Ward. Leftwich also had eyes on Bryant well before Texas Tech did. Then-Texas State OC Leftwich was one of Bryant’s first offers in May of 2024, months before Zach Kittley jumped on the wagon.

6) Frequenter of the 2K Club

As a freshman at Westwood, Bryant passed for 2,282 yards and 33 touchdowns in 12 games. Though he does not have reported stats on Maxpreps for his sophomore 2024 campaign, he has already surpassed 2,000 yards this season with a 373 yard performance against Diboll in late October.

7) Another Bryant waiting in the wings

Kavian is not the only Bryant in his family with the opportunity to become a Red Raider. His younger brother, Kaden, is a 2029 prospect who plays wide receiver for Westwood. Texas Tech and offensive coordinator Mack Leftwich extended an offer to Kaden in May this year.

8) Budding NIL superstar?

Brand endorsements still remain a major component of NIL and Bryant could become a major beneficiary once he reaches the college ranks. Bryant posted in recent months he received care packages from brands such as Prime, Phenom Elite and Skims. He is clearly on the radar of major brands and could become a big face in the NIL game in years to come.

9) The son of a coach

People who grow up around the profession have a great idea of how coaching works and the amount of dedication it takes to make an entire sports operation go. Bryant has grown up around coaching as his dad, Kadrian, serves as Westwood’s head basketball coach.

10) A true dual-threat

Why not throw a fun, little highlight in the mix? Bryant’s ranking is not solely for his ability to push the ball downfield and operate an offense. He clearly does not shy away from contact as a runner, either.
