2027 cornerback Kameron Roberson recaps Texas Tech camp, offer

Heading into spring football ahead of his junior season, 2027 Cypress (TX) Springs cornerback Kameron Roberson held no offers to his name.
Fast forward a few weeks and that’s changed in a big way.
For Roberson, it started with an offer from San Diego State on May 20th. Shortly after came Duke, UTSA, Houston, Texas Tech and Prairie View A&M. It was following a standout camp performance in Lubbock that he picked up his in-state Power 4 offer from the Red Raiders.
“The relationship with Texas Tech came early in my recruiting process! They reached out to me via Twitter and invited me to a camp in Lubbock in which I attended and got a chance to meet all the coaches and perform.
I got invited to the camp by coach (James) Blanchard and while at the camp I got a chance to speak with the DB coaches, coach (Darcel) McBath and coach (Rob) Greene. Since I play corner I was getting coached up by coach McBath. I also got a chance to chop it up with coach Juice Johnson.”
In-state offer big for Houston-area prospect
Though Texas Tech wasn’t the first in-state Power 4 program to offer Roberson – that was Houston – picking up the offer was still a big moment for the 6-foot-1, 180 pound cornerback recruit.
As the Red Raiders look to take the next step as contenders in the Big 12 Conference, Roberson has taken notice.
“Earning the offer from Texas Tech is big. They are doing great things in Lubbock. Traditionally they have always been a contender in the Big 12. I look forward to watching them in the future.”
Speedy Roberson looking for massive junior season
As a sophomore in 2024, Roberson recorded 9 tackles, 1 pass defended and a safety on his way to helping Cypress Springs to a 8-3 record. He’s looking to improve on those numbers in 2025, using his speed and playmaking ability to put his Panthers in the best position to win every Friday night.
“Everyday I’m working on my craft to get better at corner. I bring quickness and speed. I had a chance to be on the state champion 4×1 team at my high school so I believe I can turn and run with anyone and have the ability to close on the ball and make a play when the ball is in the air. I like to be aggressive and also get in the run game! I transitioned from offense to DB so I’m still working on the technical details that the position demands on a daily basis to perfect my craft.
My individual goals are to league the district in interceptions and pass breakups. I want to be known as a playmaker and a ball hawk! In doing so I want to make first team All District at my position and Defensive MVP. Team goal wise I want to help lead us to a district championship and make a run in the playoffs this year. We have the talent to do so if we keep working hard.”
Roberson is unranked per On3, but that will surely change in the near future with six offers already in hand and more on the way.
