Lady Raider Big 12 basketball schedule released
The Big 12 announced that each team’s conference schedules would be announced on Monday and Tuesday, and the first one for Texas Tech was the announcement of the conference schedule for the Lady Raiders.
Tech finished 19-18 last season (4-14 Big 12), and their season ended after a loss to No. 3 Florida in the WBIT Tournament. The Lady Raiders gathered several important players from the transfer portal, as well as bringing back key players like Bailey Maupin and Denae Fritz.
Tech’s conference schedule
Tech will start conference play at Baylor on December 31st. The three teams they will meet twice throughout the conference are Houston, Kansas, and Baylor. The Lady Raiders swept Houston last season, lost to their first matchup against Kansas in the regular season, but won against the Jayhawks in the Big 12 tournament, and lost to Baylor in their only matchup against the Bears last season.
Key Matchups
To be successful during conference play, the Lady Raiders will have to take advantage of the games they have at home. Having Baylor, TCU, and Kansas State (three of the top teams in the Big 12 last year) at home is huge and will be key if Tech can pull out some wins.
With Houston and Arizona State sitting at the bottom last year, along with Tech, it will be important for those wins to come easily to them as well, and to be able to grab some tough wins on the road.
