Quick Summary

The United States controlled much of the first half led by Lady Raider senior Adlee Blacklock who scored 11 of her 15 points to help Team USA to a 35-29 halftime lead. A quick burst to start the second half saw USA push their lead to ten on a basket from Denae Fritz.

Germany’s experience showed however as they stormed back the rest of the quarter to win the third 20-11 and hold a three point lead headed into the fourth. It was an intense matchup throughout but a late steal and bucket from Fritz with three minutes to play gave USA a lead they would not relinquish the rest of the way.

Impressive showings from Gaston, Blacklock, Fritz and Love as all four seemed more than willing to take shots throughout, or get to the basket if those shots weren’t falling. Of note on the latter, Team USA was only 2-18 from three but made up for it by being the aggressor getting to the line 26 times and out rebounding a tough Germany team 40-23.

Plenty to cleanup but for the team’s first game out down a few rotation players, it was a nice way to start Texas Tech’s time in Germany. The broadcast was a bit iffy in this one unfortunately so no highlights. The word from event organizers is they are working on the issue. Enjoy a few snapshots taken by Rhine Ruhr and Team USA photographers in the meantime.
