Rodriguez listed questionable ahead of Kansas matchup

Texas Tech linebacker Jacob Rodriguez was listed questionable in Wednesday’s initial availability report ahead of Saturday’s matchup versus Kansas. The Big 12 released the initial report as part of its initiative for teams to be more transparent with injuries and availability during conference matchups.
Rodriguez listed questionable
Jacob Rodriguez left the Houston game early with what he described as a calf contusion. The Big 12 Preseason Defensive Player of the Year made another case for why he should earn the postseason honor against the Cougars. Rodriguez finished with five tackles, two passes defended and an interception.
“I got bruised and just a calf contusion, it’s just hard for me to push off,” Rodriguez told the media after the 35-11 win over Houston. “I was fine. I’m fine. I just went out there, made a play and then kind of coach’s decision just to let it rest.”
Rodriguez logged 36 snaps last week, which was significantly less than his starting lineup counterparts such as David Bailey (49) or Brice Pollock (62).
Key offensive lineman also listed
Left tackle Howard Sampson joined Rodriguez in the questionable designation. After a huge day against Houston, Sampson’s availability is up in the air for the matchup with the Jayhawks. Sampson played 93 offensive snaps and boasted an 86.7 pass block PFF grade.
