In front of another sell out crowd No. 21 Texas Tech came out hot and not even the second hour plus long storm delay already of the season could slow them down. The Red Raiders shut out their opponent in the first half for the third straight game on their way to a 45-14 win over the Oregon State Beavers.

“I loved the effort and I love the way they responded to a long rain delay,” said Texas Tech head coach Joey McGuire postgame. “It’s great to be 3-0 going into conference play, getting ready to play one of the best teams in the nation at their place.”

Even after his first undefeated non-conference as a head coach, McGuire and the players all know this team has so much more to achieve.

“I don’t think we’ve come close to how good we can be,” said McGuire. “When you’ve got old guys on the sideline saying, ‘Coach, we’re really good. Let’s don’t miss this opportunity,’ then you’ve got a chance to be really good.”

And most of all the tone postgame was one of experience, poise and the “what’s next” attitude this team has been preaching since Spring. No one explained it better than senior safety Cole Wisniewski, someone that knows what it takes to win a National Championship having done it at the FCS level with North Dakota State

“One thing you recognize on championship teams, and this is just my observation in years that we [NDSU] won and year’s that we didn’t win it, is you have guys that want to put the work in,” explained Wisniewski when asked if he sees those traits in Texas Tech. “No one’s complaining. The leaders on this team, you’re not going to hear complaints come out of their mouth. They’re going to get the work done. And that’s huge, because if a bad play happens, it’s not going to be negative out there. It’s going to be all right. What’s next? How do we handle it? What’s next?”
