Texas Tech announced the hiring of Aaron Uzzell to the role of Assistant Athletics Director for strength and conditioning Thursday. Uzzell will be returning to his alma mater following a brief stint at Frenship ISD in nearby Wolfforth.

In his new post, Uzzell will lead and direct the strength and conditioning programs for 16 sports under Tech’s health and wellness programs. Football will remain under the leadership of Lance Barilow.

Uzzell previously worked at Tech from 1997-2015, working under head football coaches Spike Dykes, Mike Leach, Tommy Tuberville and Kliff Kingsbury.

Uzzell has long been regarded as a top trainer among NFL prospects and he has worked with nearly 30 prospects that have headed to the NFL Combine.
