Texas Tech Athlete World Takeover?

As the nation’s patriotic spirit shines this week, Texas Tech athletes are doing the same across sports and the world. Within the past two weeks, five different current Red Raiders have represented their countries in international competition or camps. These include: Christian Anderson (Men’s Basketball | Germany), NiJaree Canady (Softball | United States), Kaitlyn Terry (Softball | United States), Angelyna Conde (Softball | Mexico) and Raleigh Greason (Soccer | United States.)
Add in Grant McCasland coaching as an assistant for Team USA at the FIBA U-19 Men’s Basketball World Cup along with the Lady Raiders practicing in preparation to represent Team USA at the FISU International University Games in July, and Tech is not so quietly spreading it’s brand around the globe this summer.
Christian Anderson | Texas Tech Men’s Basketball | Team Germany, FIBA U-19 World Cup

Tech basketball rising sophomore Christian Anderson is representing Germany in the FIBA U-19 World Cup in Switzerland June 28-July 5. Germany has played two games thus far, winning both, with Anderson averaging 10.5 points, 4.5 assists and 3.0 rebounds.
He started off game one hot with a smooooooth step back three before Slovenia turned up the pressure. It took some time for the entire German team to settle in from there, they ultimately did though and Anderson showed off a little flair with a spin cycle finish through contact helping Germany come back to win 75-68.
Anderson came out on a mission in the team’s game versus China with 10 quick points to set the tone of what would end up a 90-66 blowout win. His finished the game with 14 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists and only one turnover in 24 minutes played.
Germany continues their World Cup title chase with their third group round game Tuesday July 1 at 7:30 AM CT. All games are streamed on the FIBA YouTube page. Full boxscores and game information can be found here.

Kaitlyn Terry & NiJaree Canady | Texas Tech Softball | Team All-Stars, USA Softball All-Star Showcase

The world will have to wait to see NiJaree Canady and new transfer addition Kaitlyn Terry share the field as Red Raiders but the recent USA Softball All-Star Showcase gave a brief glance behind the curtain of what’s to come. Canady and Terry were members of the Women’s National Team (WNT) player pool All-Star Roster that faced Team USA in a doubleheader on July 27 in Oklahoma City.
Both players took part in the week long training camp, getting work in with National Team coaches Patty Gasso (Oklahoma – Head Coach), John Bargfeldt, Trisha Ford (Texas A&M), Kelly Kretschman (AUSL Volts), JT Gasso (Oklahoma), Chris Malveaux (Auburn), Lincoln Martin, Stacey Nuveman-Deniz (San Diego State), Jen Rocha (Oklahoma) and Natasha Watley.
While Terry was initially listed as solely a practice player, perhaps Canady ultimately not pitching in the games opened up a spot for her new teammate to shine. And shine she did as Terry impressed in her 2.2 innings pitched in game two of the Friday doubleheader. The rising junior came in with two runners on and only one out but got out of the jam quickly. A trend she continued her first time through a vaunted Team USA lineup – giving up only one hit, no runs and no walks after the first nine she faced.
Terry was eventually chased in her third inning of work after allowing the first two runners to reach on singles, but the young lefty more than made her made her mark.
This event was a primer for the upcoming U.S. Women’s National Team as they prepare for 2025 World Games in Chengdu, China, Aug. 13-17. Final roster announcements on who will represent Team USA at this event to come.
Raleigh Greason | Texas Tech Soccer | USA Soccer Talent ID Camp

Tech soccer incoming true freshman Raleigh Greason participated in for a first-of-its-kind Women’s College Talent ID Camp with the U.S. Youth National Team. The camp took place June 18-22 in Atlanta, Ga., home of the new Arthur M. Blank U.S. Soccer National Training Center.
The camp is part of the growing U.S. Youth National Teams’ scouting strategy with the objective of increasing programming opportunities for college-specific players with high potential and therefore expanding the U.S. Under-18, Under-19 and Under-20 Women’s National Team player pools.
An ECNL All-American, Greason was a First Team ECNL All-Conference selection and a First Team All-State selection as she scored 24 total club goals and tallied 14 assists playing for Real Colorado. Astute Tech fans know that name well as it is the same club that produced Red Raider legends such as Janine Beckie as well as current players Kylie Bahr, Molly Scurcinski and Peyton Parsons.
Greason, a midfielder/defender, enrolled early in January to begin her development and scored a goal in the spring. The team will play their first official match of the season on August 14 at San Diego State after an exhibition with Denver on August 7. Find the full schedule here.
Angelyna Conde | Texas Tech Softball | Team Mexico, TCS International Challenge

One of five incoming freshmen for Tech in the Class of 2025 Angelyna Conde celebrated her Mexican heritage playing in TCS International Challenge in Colorado. The event is made up of high school age players born in the United States.
Conde committed to Texas Tech in late November of 2024. The third base / utility player hit .326 as senior at La Mirada H.S. in La Mirada, California. She mashed eight home runs and seven doubles while driving in a team leading 35 RBI. She joins Mallie West, Mia Richards, Cimone Edge and Timber Hensley in the Class of 2025 recruits who will start their Red Raider careers in the fall.
