On Friday, Texas Tech Men’s Basketball announced two key hirings to the coaching staff.

Rem Bakamus comes over as an assistant coach from Big 12 foe Arizona, and is considered an up-and-coming riser in the industry. Prior to his time at Arizona, he was a graduate assistant at Baylor and a player at Gonzaga. He has spent close to the last decade learning from elite coaches such as Mark Few, Scott Drew and Tommy Lloyd, and will now get the opportunity to be on Grant McCasland‘s bench.

Bakamus and McCasland do have a brief history together as the two were assistant coaches this past summer at the 2025 U19 World Cup for Team USA, helping lead the team to a gold.

Along with Bakamus, Texas Tech is bringing back a familiar name for the role of Associate Director of Operations in Duncan Bacon.

Bacon was a graduate assistant for Texas Tech Basketball last season before being hired by SFA in April 2025. After a handful of months in Nacogdoches, Bacon heads back to Lubbock in a more prominent role.
