Texas Tech MBB adds 2025 center LaTrell Hoover

Texas Tech Men’s Basketball and head coach Grant McCasland have made a late addition to their 2025 roster in the form of 7-foot center LaTrell Hoover.
Hoover played at Samuel Clemens HS in Schertz, TX this past season and was set to do a post grad year at Link Academy but will instead begin his college career by heading to Texas Tech.
Coming out of HS, Hoover held offers from several Junior Colleges. After announcing his plans to reclass to 2026, Hoover picked up offers from Boise State and South Dakota. In the end though, he decided he will stay in the 2025 class as a member of the Red Raiders.
Hoover joins a Texas Tech center rotation that also includes the reigning Big 12 Player of the Year in JT Toppin, VCU transfer Luke Bamgboye and redshirt freshman Marial Akuentok who joined the team midway through the 2024/25 season.
