Texas Tech defense, Cam Dickey pick up multiple Big 12 awards

Texas Tech throttled Kansas 42-17 Saturday night, and this week’s edition of Big 12 awards showcases that. The Red Raiders were easily able to physically, and schematically handle the Jayhawks with ease outside of the 2nd quarter. After the scare from Kansas late in the 2nd half to get the Tech lead down to 4 the Red Raiders took care of business the rest of the way.
Texas Tech remains as the only school in the country to not trail this season. Tech is also one of two schools in the country to not allow 20+ points to opponents this season, Ohio State being the other of the two. Texas Tech was able to pickup multiple Big 12 weekly awards because of the performance Saturday night.
Cam Dickey’s Signature Game
Cam Dickey picked up a career high 263 yards, and 2 touchdowns on homecoming. With J’Koby Williams being slightly limited in practice this past week, it allowed the Sophomore Austin native Cam Dickey to pick up some additional practice reps going into the Kansas matchup on Saturday. The running back felt like those additional reps helped him in his massive performance.
Dickey will look to continue his momentum into Saturday’s matchup versus Arizona State in Tempe. The running back was named Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week.
David Bailey Pro-Level Performance
David Bailey, a Senior transfer from Stanford had an outstanding night on Saturday. Bailey, most likely a first-round draft pick in the 2026 NFL Draft this off season picked up 11 pressures, 3 sacks, 3 tackles, and 1 forced fumble en route to a 94.8 PFF grade.
The EDGE was named Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week for his dominant efforts Saturday night versus the Jayhawks.
All-Time Texas Tech Defensive Performance
The Texas Tech defense was dominant vs the Jayhawks, and that word may not describe their effort well enough. The defense forced 30 pressures, and sacked Kansas quarterback Jalon Daniels a school-record 9 times Saturday night.
Outside of the low 2nd quarter performance, the Red Raiders handled the Kansas offense with relative ease the rest of the game. The defensive line group was named once again Big 12 Defensive Line of the Week, this is the second straight week the group has accomplished the feat.
