TTU Pres. Schovanec Named To CFP Board of Managers

It was announced by the Big 12 Conference earlier this afternoon that Texas Tech University President Lawrence Schovanec was named to the College Football Playoff (CFP) Board of Managers. Schovanec, President of the Texas Tech System since 2016, will be replacing West Virginia President E. Gordon Gee on the College Football Playoff Board of Managers.

Schovanec’s Remarks
From The Big 12 Conference release:
“I appreciate the opportunity to contribute to the College Football Playoff Board of Managers, especially at a time when critical decisions will be made regarding the future of the CFP,”
This will be the second time a Texas Tech Athletics staff member is working with the College Football Playoff. Previously, Texas Tech Athletics Director Kirby Hocutt worked as the Chair of the Selection Committee during the 2016-17 season.
“I look forward to representing Texas Tech and the Big 12 Conference as I work with colleagues on the Board in the best interests of our student-athletes, their coaches and the fans.”

Summary
Big 12 Commissioner Brett Yormark on the appointment of President Schovanec to the College Football Board of Managers, “President Schovanec is an excellent choice to serve as the Big 12’s representative on the CFP Board of Managers”, “His leadership has elevated Texas Tech and the Big 12. He will do a great job representing the interests of college football”.
President Schovanec will look to put the Big 12 Conference in the best possible position for the future of college football, and assist in the growth of the Big 12 Conference brand with his appointment. His appointment almost certainly means Texas Tech will be in the best possible scenario for the near future.
